93. Positive ways to get to play activities bypassing the grumps

by on April 11, 2012
in Podcast

Nothing’s worse than a temper tantrum or discipline issues around a play activity. We all end up frustrated, cross and really unlikely to want to do the activity. Play activities can all too easily be derailed by high emotions.

Today I’m talking to Amy Speidel of Conscious discipline about approaches to use to move us through this season of Early childhood learning.

We are teaching and learning through conflict situations so we can be about the business of play.

ONE Mums #Letsthrive Twitter party

by on April 10, 2012
in Learning

Today you can make a difference by joining a grassroots organisation called ONE. You’ve probably heard of them on the TV and radio. Here’s a little introductory post about why I believe this is something we should be part of with our children. Part of Raising a Playful Tot is about sharing and showing our passions; leading by example and walking the walk of our values. After all, children learn what we do not what we say.

Getting involved is easier than you think. We can’t help everyone. We can’t give to everyone.

Infact ONE isn’t asking for our money at all but our voice.

Today is the start of a new initiative: Thrive.

Here’s what you can do

1. Sign up to ONE.org and lend your voice
2. Join the #ONEMum Twitter party at 12:30 on Tuesday 10 Apr to support #Letsthrive – Come to learn about why we need to support anti-poverty programmes and what they actually achieve! Find out more
3. Write a blog post about it or share on facebook. Come back and share your post here on the linky.
4. Tweet with the hashtag #LetsThrive
